The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted two resolutions to attract a EUR 300-million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for energy efficiency, the Ukrainian Communities and Territories Development Ministry reports.
The implementation of the resolution “On attracting a loan from the European Investment Bank for the implementation of Ukraine’s Public Buildings Energy Efficiency project” will allow for energy efficiency measures in small towns, which will significantly reduce the burden on state and local budgets by saving energy costs.
Energy efficiency measures will be implemented in kindergartens, schools, hospitals, administrative, social and cultural buildings.
By another resolution, the Cabinet of Ministers formed a personal composition of the delegation, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Justice, and a directive to participate in negotiations with the EIB for the further signing of a financial agreement and the implementation of Ukraine’s Public Buildings Energy Efficiency project.
According to the Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov, the agreement with the European Investment Bank on a long-term low-interest loan aimed at improving energy efficiency in social buildings creates a solid foundation for the implementation of energy efficiency reform and provides a financial opportunity for the development of municipal energy-efficient space.
