Despite the fact that in 2018-2019 MY Ukraine slightly reduced the export volumes of wheat bran, the supply geography of the product significantly expanded, and already reached nearly 20 countries.
In 2018-2019 MY Ukraine shipped nearly 539 thousand tons of wheat bran to foreign markets, against almost 586 thousand tons in the previous season. The reporting downward trend developed due to reduction of the product purchases by the key country-importer of Ukrainian wheat bran – Turkey, which faced rather difficult economic situation in terms of the significant devaluation rates of the national currency. In the season-2017-2018 the country purchased 570 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat bran, but last MY the figures totaled 450 thousand tons only, and the share of the importer in the general structure of shipments reduced from 97.1% to 83.4%.
As a result, many Ukrainian wheat bran exporters started looking for new sales markets or resuming their presence on the previously forgotten ones in order to diversify their risks. Saudi Arabia became one of such previously forgotten markets, and last season the country imported more than 56 thousand tons of wheat bran from Ukraine, for the first time since 2015-2016 MY.
In addition, in 2018-2019 MY Senegal became interested in the product for the first time, and imported 6.3 thousand tons.
In addition, last season the supplies of wheat bran to Singapore significantly increased – from 0.5 thousand tons to 6.64 thousand tons, as well as Poland – from 0.02 thousand tons to 3.3 thousand tons, and the UK – from 0.8 thousand tons to 1.6 thousand tons.
Also, Ukraine exported wheat bran to China, Israel, Cyprus, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the United Arab Emirates, as well as supplied rather small batches to Vietnam, Romania, Egypt, North Korea, Oman and Bulgaria. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
