Freight volume handled in the Port of Liepaja in January-June fell by 5.5% YoY, to 3.655 million tons, the Port Authority reported.
Transshipment of grain fell by 23.9%, to 1,306,800 tons, while of anthracite grew by 16.8%, to 772,000 tons, construction materials – by 12%, to 450,500 tons, and oil products – by 5%, to 192,700 tons.
Container traffic decreased by 3%, to 1.602 million TEUs, but handling of Ro-Ro cargo grew by 10%, to 21,967 units.
The number of calls went up by 12%, to 856, though passenger traffic decreased by 18%, to 16,515 passengers. (PortNews/Business World Magazine)
