“Astarta” production units have successfully completed the sugar beet sowing season.
Sugar beet was sown on the area of 36 thousand hectares. The length of the campaign was 20 days and the company managed to complete it prior to the rainy weather that was favorable for the further development of the crops. Now the company starts treating the crops with postemergent herbicides.
The agronomical deadlines for the sugar beet sowing campaign are coming to an end, therefore, management believes that the plantings under this crop should not exceed 200 thousand hectares (in previous season Ukraine planted 283 thousand hectares of sugar beet). Thus, declining sugar beet area gives grounds to believe that sugar price can increase in the new season. (Ukrsugar/Business World Magazine)
