Looking at the amount of taxes companies pay, 55.6% of businessmen and CEOs said they were too high, 36.5% said taxes were a bit too high, whereas 7.2% said taxes were as high as they needed to be, according to data from Turiba University’s Business Index.
Compared to answers provided in 2018, it can be said the level of dissatisfaction is slowly on a rise. While last year businessmen viewed tax amount with a total index of -48.4, it had since dropped further to -50.3.
Businessmen were asked to comment on legislative environment associated with business environment. 15% of businessmen said it was very poor, 35% said it was more likely poor, 19% said it was more likely good, 1% said it was very good, whereas 30% had difficulty answering this question. The overall legislative environment index is negative -23, according to the study.
“When creating the study, our goal was not only determining the situation in the business environment and what businessmen think but also continue work on the data uncovered by the study to offer more solutions to improve the situation. The negative attitude for the factors forming the business environment is a clear signal that serious changes are needed,” explains Turiba University rector and board chairman Aldis Baumanis.
Turiba University’s Business Index is a study that covers the general mood of businessmen towards different factors that affect the business environment. Analysis of all factors shows that the general business index this year is negative -17.4. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
