Ukrainian and Slovak railway companies have reached an agreement on the launch of new Kosice – Chop – Mukachevo standard-gauge railway route starting from June.
“We are still cautious about the dates, but the preliminary agreements are as follows: the Ukrzaliznytsia will launch Mukachevo – Kosice train in June. A test run on this route will be conducted in a few months – on April 2,” Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” (Ukrainian Railways) Yevhen Kravtsov posted on Facebook.
According to him, the travel time is expected to be about four hours.
Kravtsov recalled that the Ukrzaliznytsia successfully launched a standard-gauge railway route to Budapest last year.
“We remain committed to our goal to make Ukrainian town of Mukachevo a powerful passenger hub for traveling in Europe,” he noted. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
