Some 5 million square meters of housing is to be constructed in Belarus in 2020, Deputy Premier of Belarus Anatoly Kalinin has reported.
Initially 4 million square meters of housing was to be built in Belarus in 2019.
“I believe we can handle a more challenging task. We have the necessary capacities and resources to build more housing. In 2020 we can erect 5 million square meters,” Anatoly Kalinin said.
The housing construction project will focus first of all on families with many children, satellite towns and private housing projects. Some 4 million square meters of housing is to be commissioned in 2018. The vice premier underlined that this plan would be fulfilled; the target might even be exceeded. The figure includes about 900,000 square meters of housing subsidized by the government.
“In 2018 we have doubled the housing construction target for families with many children. However, the biggest problem is that such families wait for their new homes for more than three years. We have undertaken a commitment to address this issue in 2019-2020, so that by 2021 families with many children will wait for their housing not more than a year. We have instructed regional authorities to submit a comprehensive action plan to the Architecture and Construction Ministry by August 1,” he said. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
