In the first half of 2018, Ukrainian honey exports decreased by 43% YoY.
“They totaled almost 17,000 tons worth $37 million,” Ann Burka, consultant at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), posted on her Facebook page.
According to FAO’s data for last year, Ukraine became one of the world’s three leading honey exporters. In 2017 the largest buyers of Ukrainian honey were the EU countries (particularly, Germany, Poland and Belgium) and the USA.
In 2018 the EU has increased quotas for Ukrainian honey deliveries by 200 tons, to 5,400 tons. In October last year the EU also provided Ukraine with additional quota of 2,500 tons. Similar additional quotas are expected to be allocated starting from October 1. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
