PJSC Kyivkhlib, the largest Kyiv producer of bread and bakery goods, in 2017 began to supply its own products to the United States.
“We export long-term storage products – gingerbread, straws, dry bread crumbs, cracker rings. Most of all we ship to Germany. We supply products to Central Asia, the Baltic States, Israel, and Canada. We’ve made first deliveries to the American market, where we export gingerbread and frozen cakes,” company chairman Volodymyr Chereda said at a press conference in Kyiv.
He added the company was studying the possibility of exports to other countries, but did not detail these plans.
According to Chereda, currently Kyivkhlib exports 35% of its products in the long-term storage segment, 65% is sold on the domestic market.
“Today there is the task to reach the 50/50 figure in the long-term storage segment. We export an average of 150-160 tons of products a month,” Chereda stressed.
He noted the profitability of exported products was about 30%, the goods sold on the domestic market about 8-9%.
He said the general plan of investments for 2017 provided more than UAH 100 million for modernization of production. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
