Internet stores continue becoming more and more popular among residents. The number of transactions using Visa payment cards issued by PrivatBank has grown by 6.1% YoY in the first six months of 2017, according to data compiled by PrivatBank.
January and March were the hottest months for Internet shopping in this year’s six-month period.
The largest number of purchases was recorded in January – 29.8% more YoY.
March, on the other hand, was the “most expensive month”, because the biggest increase of value of purchase made on the Internet was recorded then. Men made the most expensive purchases that month – an increase of 21.9%. The general value of goods purchased by women that month grew by only 9.1%. Women did try to recover lost progress in June, when their purchases grew in terms of numbers (+37.1%) and overall value (+21.6%), according to data.
What is particularly interesting is that men have turned as leaders in Internet shopping habits this year. Women, on the other hand, stand out with a desire to make more expensive purchases on the Internet. For example, the number of purchases made by men using Universal card has grown by 20.6% (by 8.7% for women). The increase of prices for women has been 24.3% (5.7% for men).
Local Internet stores sympathize to PrivatBank clients more than foreign ones. Value of purchases made there increased by 81.4% in the first six months of 2017 when compared with the same period of 2016. On top of that, women prefer to shop on local Internet stores more than men – the amount of money women have spent on purchases on local Internet stores has nearly doubled (+93.9%). The increase for men was slightly below (+73.9%).
Universal credit card is the most popular card for Internet purchases. It is also the most popular PrivatBank Visa card. Nearly 62% of the bank’s clients have used it for purchases in the first six months of 2017. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
