A mutual contract has been signed between Latvian Defense Ministry and Danish Defense Ministry for the procurement of anti-air missile launchers used by the Danish armed forces, as confirmed by Latvian Defense Ministry.
It is planned that the launchers will be delivered in the first half of 2018.
As noted by Latvian Defense Minister Raimonds Bergmanis: “I am truly proud and satisfied, knowing that Stinger missile launchers will help significantly improve our armed forces’ combat capabilities. Anti-air defense is one of our current priorities. This is another big step towards growth. It will be felt by every unit that will be provided with missile launchers, including the National Guard.”
Stinger anti-air surface-to-air missile launchers are some of the most reliable and effective individual anti-air weapons used by many of Latvia’s allied countries, including USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Finland, Norway and Lithuania.
In addition to procuring Stinger missile launchers, work is being performed on securing support, maintenance and training equipment, as well as cooperation with NATO and other allied countries’ armed forces to exchange experience and personnel training. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
