This year has seen an increase in demand for consumer loans – EUR 9.3 million was provided to clients in the first half-year of 2017, up by 15% YoY, as reported by SEB Bank representatives.
“According to SEB Bank’s data in summer months residents more actively use loans to purchase cars, perform home repairs, travel and weddings. In autumn and winter, on the other hand, residents use loans to purchase different large appliances and cover medical costs,” says SEB Bank board member Arnis Skapars.
He says the average loan amount for car purchase is EUR 4,000; for home repairs – EUR 3,200; for travel, medical costs and purchase of home appliances – around EUR 1,500. The average loan amount used to cover wedding costs is around EUR 5,000.
According to the bank’s data, residents aged 25 to 35 use consumer loans the most – the amount they usually borrow is around EUR 3,500.
“As a company that plans ahead in the future, we always make sure our clients borrow money responsibly, without undermining their financial state,” adds Arnis Skapars. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
