In January-June the Freeport of Riga handled 17,512,200 tons of cargo, down by 4.1% YoY.
Coal transshipment climbed by 7.4%, to 6,398,600 tons, wood pellets by 13.4%, 353,000 tons, oil products dropped by 31.8%, to 3,270,400 tons, ore by 9.2%, to 165,400 tons.
The port’s container throughput grew by 14%, to 208,107 TEUs.
Passenger turnover increased by 45.7%, to 364,199 people including 34,843 cruise passengers (+124.1%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters, maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2016, the port’s throughput totaled 37,070,300 tons of cargo.
