In January-April the port of Ventspils handled 9.5 million tons of cargo, up by 25% YoY. According to the port authority, transshipment of Ro-Ro cargo grew by 26%, to 143,000 tons.
Kalija parks handled 140,000 tons, Ventspils Nafta – 3.4 million tons, Eurohome Latvija – 367,000 tons.
In April the port’s throughput surged by 60% YoY, to 2.4 million tons.
The number of passenger carried by Ventspils-Nynashamn line grew by 26%, to 11,928 passengers.
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals to load and unload crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2016, the port handled 18.8 million tons of cargo. (Portnews/Business World Magazine)
