A total of UAH 2 billion has already been transferred for road patching repairs this year, but major road maintenance operations will be launched in late March-early April, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian has stated at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“95% of roads are no longer usable and do not meet the standards. As of 2017, 85 thousand kilometers of roads, including 25 thousand kilometers of principal roads, were damaged by potholes. This year we have already transferred UAH 2 billion for patching repairs and liquidated potholes on 6 thousand kilometers of roads,” Omelian said.
Meanwhile, new potholes, totaling about 300 thousand square kilometers, appear every week.
“Major maintenance operations will be launched from late March-early April,” Omelian added. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
