“In 2016 Kyrgyzstan exported garment products valued at $95.5 million, or 7% of the total exports,” the head of the light industry department of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Mining Fatima Sadamkulova said.
In general Kyrgyzstan exported products valued at $1,268 billion.
“Sewing industry occupies the third place in the economy of the country after the export of precious metals and agricultural commodities. On the year-end the positive rates of production were achieved – goods worth 205 billion soms were produced”, Sadamkulova said.
According to her, at the moment the capacities of clothing companies are loaded, they get a lot of large orders, and there is a lack of sewers.
Fatima Sadamkulova commented on data of the National Statistics Committee, according to which there was a decline of 20% in the garment industry.
“More than 80% of the total apparel products are produced by individual entrepreneurs working under the patent and not reporting to the National Statistics Committee”, she said. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
