Hutchison Ports and DP World, one of the world’s biggest port operators, will enter Ukraine as soon as this year. According to Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, Hutchison Ports will start operating in the port of Chornomorsk in June-July and DP World by the year end.
Hutchison Ports has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the state enterprise Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port. The group is interested primarily in developing and managing container terminals. It is already studying the rear areas of berths No. 1-6 in the port of Chornomorsk.
The United Arab Emirates’ company DP World is interested in the implementation of projects in the ports of Yuzhny and Chornomorsk. The Infrastructure Ministry signed a memorandum on cooperation with this group in Kyiv on October 13, 2016. At that time, Rado Antolovich, managing director of P&O Maritime (part of DP World), passed a proposal to Omelyan to optimize towing fleet operation in the Odessa port.
