Continuing last year’s autumn trend, the volume of cargoes carried by Latvijas dzelzcels had increased in November. The volume of cargoes transported by rail reached 4.46 million tons, up by 7.6% YoY.
Coal transports have increased significantly.
1.8 million tons of coal was transported in November. This exceeds the index of November 2015 by 28.7%. Considering such a major increase, LDz Cargo has reached a cargo transporting record, having transported more than 1,100 coal wagons a day.
Compared with last year’s November, the volume of land transit has increased by 61.2% (195,000 tons) and import cargo volume has increased by 10.4%. Export cargoes volumes have declined in comparison with last year’s results. Compared with November 2015, LDz transported twice as much sugar, 247% more black metals and 14.7% less oil products in November 2016.
Throughout eleven months of 2016, LDz has transported 42.88 million tons of cargoes, which is equal to 84.4% of the same period of 2015.
Oil products were carried in the amount of 15.45 million tons this year, which is equal to 77.5% of the same period of 2015. The second notable cargo group – coal – was transported in a total volume of 13.7 million tons, which is equal to 78.9% of last year’s volume.
The volume of transported black metals has grown by 37.8%, reaching 1.64 million tons. The volume of transported lumber materials has grown by 4.6%, reaching 1.4 million tons. The volume of mineral fertilizers has increased by 2.3%, reaching 3.51 million tons.
LDz has also transported a total volume of 131,000 tons of sugar (+9.2%) and 1.56 million tons of grains and flour (+95.8%). (BNN/Business World Magazine)
