In the nearest future, Ukraine will continue developing as one of the major countries-producers and exporters of main types of food products on the world market, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for European Integration Olga Trofimtseva declared.
There are not so many countries in the world, which will be able to produce foodstuffs to feed the growing population of the planet in the coming years. According to many international organizations, including the FAO, Ukraine is among the reporting countries. Therefore, it will be one of the most important aspects of development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, the deputy minister said.
According to her, the growth in production and exports of major agricultural products in Ukraine will work at the expense of technological development, as well as intensification of production.
At the same time, Ukraine has to diversify its production and trade capacities. In particular, niche products and high value-added products, i.e. crop by-products, are the most important directions of work. Therefore, the ministry will focus on supporting such producers to help them find the required sales markets. It can be an engine for development of rural areas, to form the economic “hubs”, Trofimtseva said. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
