In September corn shipments from Ukraine were minimal over the last seven years due to harvesting delay and exporters’ focus on wheat exports.
During the first month of season 2016/2017 Ukraine supplied 56.7 KMT of corn to foreign markets, down by 63% YoY (150.3 KMT). Egypt was the largest importer of Ukrainian corn in September – 29.2 KMT or 51% of total shipments. The second half of corn was exported to EU countries – 27 KMT or 48%.
Nevertheless, in October corn export has recovered. According to market operators, EU countries, Iran, Egypt, Israel and Tunisia remained the key importers of Ukrainian corn. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
