According to the State Statistics Service, during the first 9 months of 2016 the general turnover of foreign trade of Ukraine in agricultural products (groups 1-24 of UKT VED) totaled $13.5 billion, up by 2.3% YoY, the Deputy Director on scientific work at the National scientific center “Institute of agrarian economy” Nikolai Pugachev declared.
He specified that the growth of export and import trading with the European Union became the main reason for enlargement of agricultural trading volumes in Ukraine.
During the 9 months the export volumes of Ukrainian agricultural products increased by $0.1 billion, and totaled $10.5 billion. Three regions remained the main sales markets – Asian countries, Africa and the EU. In particular, in January-September Asian countries purchased Ukrainian food products valued at $4.8 billion (45.7% of the general exports), the EU – $3 billion (28.6%), and African countries – $1.5 billion (14.3%). The reporting three regions covered nearly 90% of the Ukrainian agricultural exports.
At the same time, the exports of agricultural products to the CIS countries continue reducing: in the reporting period the supply volumes decreased by $300 million, to $0.8 billion. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
