Ukroboronprom State Concern initiates the creation of the UKRARPA defense innovation development platform.
The initiative to create the platform meeting modern trends of global defense industry was announced by Ukroboronprom head Roman Romanov at the 13th Arms and Security 2016 in Kyiv.
“The form of UKRARPA has been selected. It would unite designers, start-ups, investment funds and military servicemen. The platform would help concentrate progressive scientific ideas, investment and a mechanism for exchanging and protecting technologies”, he said.
At present Ukroboronprom is holding talks to start cooperation with U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
According to Ukraine, the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation of Ukrainian defense and industrial complex with DARPA is an important factor for having access to advanced defense technologies for Ukraine with the purpose of increasing efficiency of resisting to Russia’s aggression.
In August Anthony Tether who headed DARPA in 2001-2009 became an advisor of Ukroboronprom. Tether will consult the concern on development of the Ukrainian defense and industrial complex and promotion of the Ukrainian defense products on foreign markets. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
