Russian Internet giant Mail.Ru Group acquired 100% of mobile game developer Pixonic for $30 million, the group said.
“We’re sure that we’ve been joined by one of the strongest teams of mobile game developers in the world. We’re confident that the merger will enforce the division of the international mobile development and release, and we’ll together make the company’s games more successful on the global market”, Mail.Ru Group’s General Director and co-founder Dmitry Grishin said.
Pixonic CEO Filipp Gladkov said the companies shared the same vision of the mobile game development on the world market. “I think we will not only raise the audience of War Robots, but will also create new world hits”, he said.
Established in 2009, Pixonic employs now over 100 specialists. In September, the number of downloads of its popular game War Robots exceeded 20 million, and the highest demand was seen in the U.S., Japan and China.
Pixonic’s revenue was at 619 million rubles in January-June. (Prime/Business World Magazine)
