Belarus’ sugar export proceeds reduced by 14.2% YoY in January-July to $117.422 million, Belarus’ National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said in a report.
Belarus exported 222,200 tons of sugar in January-July 2016, down by 5.2% YoY. Russia was a major destination for Belarus’ sugar exports – 184,500 tons (unchanged year on year) worth $98.711 million (down by 11.7%).
The average export price of sugar (CIS states) stood at $528 per ton in January-July, down by 10.1% YoY, foreign states other than the CIS states – $580 (down by 5.2%).
There are four sugar plants in Belarus (in Gorodeya, Zhabinka, Skidel, Slootsk), which process 28,000 tons of sugar beet a day. The sugar capacity of Belarus’ home market totals 380,000 tons and is expected to grow to 720,000 tons. (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
