This year Russia started winter sowing a few days later than in 2015. As of September 2, winter grains had been sown at 3410.9 thousand ha, 19.7% of the plan (17.35 million ha).
In Ural federal district winter sowing was carried out at 69.6% – at 47.4 thousand ha, in Privolzhsky – at 50.9% (2414.8 thousand ha), in Siberian – 34.9% (126 thousand ha), in North-Western – 19.9% (26.7 thousand ha), in Central – 11.2% (439.7 thousand ha) and in the Southern district – at 6.1% (355.8 thousand ha).
Sowing pace is the lowest over the last 4 seasons due to later start. As of the same date of 2015 sowing had been carried out at 3513.9 thousand ha. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
