Uzbekistan and Switzerland signed an intergovernmental agreement on realization of a project “National management of water resources in Uzbekistan”.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan Shavkat Hamraev and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Deputy Ambassador of Switzerland in Uzbekistan Thierry Umbehr signed the document.
According to information service of the ministry, Switzerland will issue the grant for $2.66 million for the project implementation. The project will be implemented in 2016-2018.
The project will consist of four components. It is planned to develop water strategy and improve legislation of Uzbekistan. It is planned to strengthen institutional potential water management organizations and create information system on water.
The project also involves the installation of the system on early warning of population of floods in Shahimardansaya basin. (UzDaily/Business World Magazine)
