Japanese JGC Corporation is exploring the possibility of building a mini LNG plant on Sakhalin, press service of the Sakhalin region government said.
“The topic of constructing a mini LNG plant on the south of Sakhalin Island has been raised in May during a visit to Japan by the representative Russian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev. Now a member of the Corporation’s Board of Directors Masanori Suzuki arrived in Sakhalin to explore on-site the possibility of implementation of the project”, the press service said.
According to the press service, Masanori Suzuki intends to visit Aniva gas fields, explore possible sites for the plant, and select the option that requires minimal construction costs and would be the most convenient in terms of the logistics of products supplies.
The governor of the Sakhalin region Oleg Kozhemyako assured the Japanese delegation that the region’s authorities are ready to provide all necessary support in the construction of the plant.
