Azerbaijan imposed the laws banning production and imports of grain products received from genetically modified organisms (GMOs), according to amendments to the decree “On Grains” signed by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and published on July 22.
In particular, the amendments to the article 6.8 of the decree prohibit the production and trading in the country of grain products received from GMOs, or usage of plant materials created by modern methods of genetic engineering.
The amendments to the article 11.5 also prohibit the imports of grain products to Azerbaijan produced from GMOs, or usage of plant materials created by genetic engineering. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
