SC “UkrOboronProm” encourages development of engineering industry enterprises in Ukraine. In the first half of 2016, the number of working plants in this sector increased rapidly, as the State Concern attracted 296 domestic enterprises to import substitution program fulfillment. This is the result of the Memorandums of Cooperation signed by UkrOboronProm and Regional State Administrations.
“UkrOboronProm has become a real economic powerhouse for national economy development, and we have official confirmation of this. We provide our machine-building enterprises with orders, and they employ Ukrainians and increase payments to the state budget”, – the concern director general Roman Romanov said.
According to him, enterprises of Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk and Chernihiv regions are the most active ones in working with UkrOboronProm. For example, the industrial potential of Kharkiv region is used by 87%, and – according to the State Administration – engineering index of the region reached 100%. In general, about 1,000 positions for MIC – previously supplied from Russia – are being replaced.
In February Kharkiv region enterprises concluded contracts for more than 100 defense industry products, previously supplied from abroad. According to the head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Igor Raynin, this is the result of import substitution program, developed together with UkrOboronProm. In 4 months, the number of enterprises that have joined the program has gone up 5 times, from 10 to 50. The machine-building sector is yielding profit.
UkrOboronProm signed 14 memorandums of cooperation with Regional State Administrations and Kyiv. Joined efforts prove their effectiveness. For example, Zhytomyr Armored Plant attracted 67 enterprises of various types of ownership to co-operation. (UkrOboronProm/Business World Magazine)
