Prices of fruit and vegetables have risen in Dushanbe in several days ahead of Idi Ramazon of Eid ul-Fitr, a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Prices for some agricultural goods at Dushanbe’s bazaars have even doubled.
Thus, prices for one kilogram of apples have risen from 8-16 somoni to 18-25 somoni. Prices for one kilogram of apricots have risen from 4-6 somoni to 8-10 somoni, pears – from 8-10 somoni to 12-18 somoni, grapes – 10-12 somoni to 20-30 somoni, potatoes – from 1.5-1.8 somoni to 2 somoni, tomatoes – from 2 to 2.5 somoni, carrots – from 2 to 2.5 somoni, sweet cherries – from 10-15 somoni to 25-30 somoni, onions – from 0.6-0.8 somoni to 1 somoni, cucumbers – from 2-2.5 somoni to 3-3.5 somoni, and bell pepper – from 2-2.5 somoni to 4-5 somoni.
