There is a grey market of flour In Ukraine. If there are nearly 100 kg of flour per year per capita, which is close to the standard, then Ukraine should produce nearly 3.5 million tons of flour products, and taking into account the exports and carry-over stocks, the index should reach nearly 4 million tons. But the official statistics informed about 2.7 million tons only, the Adviser to the Chairman at Agrarian Fund PJSC Sergei Sakirkin declared.
In 2015, there were 900 flour mills operating in Ukraine. In particular, Agrarian Fund PJSC produced nearly 13% of the general volumes of flour, or 283 thousand tons according to the official statistics, he said.
The expert added that Agrarian Fund did not have its own production facilities, and leased them only. Agrarian Fund produces flour with sufficient profitability level. Therefore, some announcements on further privatization of the Fund are rather strange, because it does not have its own production assets, which would be privatized, Sakirkin said.
