This important decision will allow Ukrainian business to reduce logistics costs and make wider use of alternative routes for export and import against the backdrop of Russia’s escalation of the situation in the Black Sea.
The agreements were reached thanks to the systematic work of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia with the government of Moldova. In particular, the issue of developing transit routes and creating favorable conditions for the transportation of Ukrainian cargo was discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine Mykola Kalashnyk with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Bolea.
“It is fundamentally important for us to provide Ukrainian business with access to the maximum number of logistics routes. In the context of increasing Russian attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure and civilian vessels, we are systematically working to expand alternative export and import routes. The agreement with Moldova on a 50% discount on transit is a concrete result of this work and an example of effective cooperation between our countries. We will continue to develop such routes and seek solutions to ensure stable cargo logistics,” said Mykola Kalashnyk, Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine.
Ukrainian cargo can travel through Moldova to the port of Reni, Moldovan ports on the Danube, as well as to Romanian ports. This route is an important component of alternative logistics and allows us to maintain the stability of Ukrainian exports, including grain, ore and other products.
At the same time, preferential transit conditions will also be important for import shipments. Reducing transportation costs will help Ukrainian businesses optimize logistics costs and ensure the stability of critical supplies.
Ukraine continues to work systematically with international partners to develop alternative transport routes, diversify logistics, and strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian exports and imports.
