First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with Lithuanian Energy Minister Lukas Savickas.
They discussed the current needs of Ukrainian energy professionals and the development of joint projects. Denys Shmyhal congratulated his colleague on his appointment to the position.
According to the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Ukraine and Lithuania are currently working together to accelerate the dismantling of the Kaunas CHPP equipment for the needs of Kryvyi Rih. The Head of the Ministry of Energy expressed hope for continued cooperation in the transfer of equipment from decommissioned Lithuanian energy facilities.
“Ukraine is interested in maximizing gas imports through the Amber Gas Corridor and the LNG terminal in Klaipeda. For our part, we invite Lithuanian state agencies, as well as energy traders, to use Ukrainian UGS capacities for gas storage. This will strengthen Europe’s energy security. We continue to work in this direction,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine thanked Lithuania for its contribution of 6 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, as well as for $28 million provided through the World Bank’s URTF Fund within the framework of the RePoWER initiative.
“We thank Lithuania for the unwavering support that the Lithuanian people have provided to Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation,” said Denys Shmyhal. (Energy Ministry)
