Major scheduled repair work to eliminate road surface damage has been completed on state-important roads. Since the beginning of the year, almost 14 million sq. m of road surface has been repaired. Despite difficult weather conditions and security challenges, repairs continued in all regions of the country.
Such a pace and volume of work was ensured for the first time during the years of a full-scale war. For comparison: in the period from the beginning of the year to May in previous years, repairs were made in:
– 2022 – 1.3 million sq. m;
– 2023 – 1.1 million sq. m;
– 2024 – 0.9 million sq. m;
– 2025 – 1.7 million sq. m;
– 2026 – 13.9 million sq. m.
Work was carried out on key logistics routes that ensure the transportation of passengers, humanitarian cargo, business operations and support for the country’s defense capability.
“We have provided priority measures to restore the country’s key highways. Work was actively carried out to repair roads that connect different regions, and also serve as corridors to EU countries. Roads today are more than a matter of comfort, they are the security and economy of the country, part of the state’s stability, and support for our Defense Forces. Along with this, further repair work will continue,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba.
In the future, efforts to restore roads will be concentrated on front-line regions, in particular, on highways that are critically important for military logistics, evacuation, humanitarian routes, and the provision of front-line and border communities. The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, together with the General Staff, has already developed a priority list of roads from the point of view of military logistics needs. A separate resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers is being prepared to ensure financing for their restoration.
Over the past 24 hours, damage to the road surface has been eliminated on an area of over 81.8 thousand sq. m.
The largest volumes of work were carried out on the following roads:
– M-06 Kyiv – Chop;
– M-05 Kyiv – Odesa;
– M-14 Odesa – Melitopol – Novoazovsk;
– M-29 Kharkiv – Krasnograd – Pereshchepine – Dnipro;
– M-21 Vystupovychi – Zhytomyr – Mogilev-Podilskyi.
On June 3, more than 80 teams and more than 900 employees are working on the roads.
Since priority work to eliminate deformations of the road surface has now been completed, further repair work (of a preventive nature) will continue. (Development Ministry)
