Slovak coach operator Slovak Lines will launch a new direct service linking central Vienna with Bratislava airport this week, aiming to tap growing demand from Austrian passengers using flights from the Slovak capital.
The route, due to start on May 13, will run eight times a day in each direction between Vienna city centre and Bratislava’s M. R. Stefanik Airport, without intermediate stops. Services will also connect with Bratislava’s Nivy bus station, allowing passengers to travel onwards into the city.
The new route comes as Bratislava airport expands its network and seeks to attract more travellers from neighbouring Austria, particularly passengers opting for lower-cost departures unavailable or more expensive at Vienna airport.
The airport said demand for a direct Vienna link had grown among both airlines and passengers, especially travellers commuting between Vienna and destinations in the Balkans served from Bratislava.
For Slovak Lines, the launch represents a shift towards faster airport-focused cross-border travel, with the company positioning the non-stop service as a time-saving alternative to existing coach and rail options that require transfers or multiple stops.
The service will also be available for domestic travel between Bratislava airport and the Nivy transport hub, supplementing existing airport coach connections within the capital.
Tickets will start at EUR 7.90 and will be sold online, through the company’s mobile app and onboard. (The Slovak Spectator)
