In January-May, the Freeport of Riga handled 8.54 million tons of cargo, down by 15.1% YoY.
According to the port’s statistics, handing of grain increased by 53%, to 1,231,200 tons, coal and coke handling fell by 88.7%, to 175,900 tons, chemicals – by 15.9%, to 493,800 tons, ore grew by 4.4%, to 270,600 tons, wood pellets dropped by 0.6%, to 927,800 tons, wood chips – by 36.7%, to 362,600 tons, sawn timber went up over two-fold, to 218,200 tons, oil products – decreased by 16.5%, to 952,500 tons, while timber increased by 20.2%, to 1,051,500 tons.
The port’s container throughput fell by 9.8%, to 171,633 TEU.
