In the Azov Sea basin grain freight rates continue to grow. At the same time, their growth potential was somewhat limited by events in Turkey and concerns about safety of merchant shipping in the region, which caused some pause in trade.
However, Russian sources inform that later Turkish importers resumed buying grain, despite the instability and depreciation of the national currency exchange rate. However, rising costs and world prices decrease has created a situation when Turkish companies began to ask for discounts on the previously concluded contracts.
