In 2017 Belarusian agricultural enterprises of all kinds (state-run agricultural enterprises, private farming enterprises, and personal subsidiary economies) produced 7,321,900 tons of milk, up 2.5-fold YoY, the National Statistics Committee reported.
As of January 1 the cattle population in the agricultural enterprises of all kinds made up 4.4 million, up by 1.5%, including 1.5 million cows (99.9%). The number of hogs totaled 3.2 million (up by 0.3%), and poultry 50.7 million birds (up by 2.5%).
In 2017 the agricultural enterprises of all kinds sold 1,676,500 tons of livestock and poultry (in live weight), which made up 99.9% as against 2016. Poultry sale increased by 5.6%, that of pork by 2%. The share of livestock sold for slaughter accounted for 31.2% of the total sales (33.9% in 2016), that of hogs for 29.6% (29%), poultry for 38.9% (36.8%). (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
