The Belarusian nuclear power plant will be fully commissioned in the summer of 2020, Rosatom Director General Aleksei Likhachev said during a meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on July 24.
“We worked all the day at the plant and discussed the state of affairs. We are ready to make an extensive report,” Aleksei Likhachev said.
“We proceed from Rosatom’s commitment to make the plant fully operational in the summer of 2020,” he added.
Aleksei Likhachev thanked the Belarusian side for constant attention to the BelNPP construction project.
“We feel this. So do our builders working here in Belarus,” he said.
Aleksei Likhachev recalled a conversation between the Belarusian head of state and the Russian president at the end of may 2012 when the project was launched.
“Back then you said that the goal was to build the safest, the most advanced nuclear power plant in Europe. Rosatom operates based on this instruction. Indeed, this is the new generation of safety (3+). There are no such analogues in the world,” Aleksei Likhachev said. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
