Humanitarian assistance for water and heat supply enterprises of Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region was discussed during a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, WASH Cluster Ukraine, the Association “Ukrvodokanalekologiya” and UNICEF.
Representatives of 17 water utilities, 9 heat supply enterprises, international organizations and donors joined the discussion. The goal is to ensure uninterrupted water and heat supply for residents of the region in conditions of constant attacks on energy infrastructure.
In total, 50 water utilities operate in the Dnipropetrovsk region, serving about 4.4 million people. Due to shelling and power outages, enterprises are constantly operating in high alert mode. At the same time, 22 heat supply enterprises in the region provide services to 1.86 million residents.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the needs for backup power equipment to ensure stable operation of water and heat supply systems.
Thus, in 2025, with the support of WASH Cluster and UNICEF, the region’s heat and water supply enterprises additionally received 42 generators, 89 pumps, and over 522 thousand meters of pipes.
In the first months of 2026, the delivery of another 39 generators with a total capacity of 7 MW is expected.
“Regional enterprises operate under a constant threat of attacks, but they provide people with water and heat. We are already preparing for the next heating season. The key needs are generators, infrastructure protection, and personnel safety. Together with international partners, we are looking for opportunities to close these requests as quickly as possible,” said Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Kostyantyn Kovalchuk.
The Ministry of Development continues to work with international partners, in particular to attract additional equipment and strengthen the resilience of communities in the face of constant threats from the Russian Federation. (Development Ministry)
