Heavy snowfall overnight caused flight disruptions at Vilnius Airport, with at least one flight delayed and further delays or diversions possible, Lithuanian Airports said on January 2.
According to Lithuanian Airports, LTOU, difficult weather conditions led to isolated delays, and some aircraft might still be redirected to alternative airports.
“Due to challenging meteorological conditions overnight, including snowfall, isolated flight delays or diversions to alternative airports are possible,” LTOU spokeswoman Agne Saltenyte told BNS. “Airport teams are working to ensure flight safety and the smoothest possible operations.”
A Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Vilnius was delayed by more than 12 hours. The aircraft was scheduled to land at 23:55 on January 1 but was expected to arrive at around noon on January 2.
“The flight from Frankfurt is delayed due to difficult meteorological conditions overnight,” Saltenyte said.
Flight information from Vilnius Airport showed that planes were landing on January 2 morning, though some experienced minor delays. (LRT)
