New Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine could not allow weapons exports when the army did not receive what it needed. He said this in an interview with the BBC.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal believes that the export of weapons produced by Ukrainian companies is unacceptable until the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are met.
“Weapons export is a political decision. If our military do not have enough weapons, they cannot be sent abroad,” Shmyhal said.
According to the minister, the government is working to attract additional funds to buy out the products of domestic enterprises and send them to the front.
Shmyhal noted that only partnership projects with foreigners were possible – storing weapons in allied warehouses or mutual exchange. But he ruled out direct exports while the war is ongoing. (URP)
