Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets met with Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Pech.
“The Czech Republic is a reliable partner of Ukraine, in particular in the field of environmental protection. Our NGOs cooperate fruitfully. For almost 2 years now, we have been working on a Memorandum of Understanding between our ministries on biodiversity conservation, air protection and soil rehabilitation after chemical pollution. A new page of our cooperation is coming,” said Ruslan Strilets.
Ruslan Strilets and Radek Pech discussed the possibilities of cooperation under Point 8 of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and the Czech Republic’s accession to the Environmental Compact for Ukraine. The priority for the future is the reconstruction of Ukraine after the hostilities and the harmonisation of Ukrainian legislation with the European one.
Radek Pech assured that the Czech Republic was ready to provide Ukraine with comprehensive support in this regard.
The parties also discussed the process of European integration in the environmental sector.
Ruslan Strilets received a valuable gift from Radek Pech, created by Czech lawyers and translated into Ukrainian – a collection of commentaries on the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the Treaty on European Union and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
“I thank Radek Pech for a fruitful meeting. I am grateful to the friendly Czech Republic for its long-term assistance. The war in Ukraine is also a test for European countries. I am confident that together we can overcome the ambitions of the aggressor and ensure a peaceful and green future for the European continent,” said Ruslan Strilets. (Government portal)
