Pawel Mucha, a board member of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), has apparently criticised his boss for the amounts of bonuses he takes.
Mucha, a former presidential official, has been in conflict with the central bank governor, Adam Glapinski.
“The NBP President’s bonuses for the first quarter – 3x, second quarter – 3.5x, third quarter – 4x and fourth quarter – 4.5x his monthly remuneration, calculated as for vacation days equivalent,” Mucha wrote on the X platform on December 16, also publishing relevant NBP resolutions.
Donald Tusk, the prime minister, took to X to respond.
“Outrage at record bonuses of Mr Glapinski is unfounded,” he wrote on December 16. “It is only remediation of the losses he has suffered due to inflation. Also at record levels.”
The central bank said in a statement on December 17 that “remuneration in NBP is fully transparent,” calling itself “the most transparent central bank in the world when it comes to transparency of remuneration and financial disclosures.”
“The National Bank of Poland announces that remuneration in NBP is regulated by law,” the central bank added. (PAP/Business World Magazine)
