The state budget could be rectified. The announcement was made today by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at a Cabinet meeting on May 24.
Government’s task is to free up more budget space so that money can be allocated to the economy, infrastructure and increasing the population’s income.
“The correction we are starting today must bring us a greater allocation of budgets for infrastructure and local development. Today we request the allocation of about 700 million lei for the National Development and Road Rehabilitation Fund. We will also increase the funds to support local and regional development by approximately 300 million lei. We will increase by 140 million lei the support for the development of small and medium enterprises. We will allocate an additional 100 million lei to compensate for the increased expenses in the period that followed the attack in Ukraine,” he said.
He said that money would also be allocated to increase salaries in the public sector.
“I take this responsibility to go to Parliament, to request a change in this regard and, I repeat, it is only the beginning of the increase of salaries in the public administration and in the public sector. We need to strengthen the capacity of the central public administration. I understand that it is not very popular, but we must prepare the country, amend the legislation, prepare the institutions to move to the next stage of our relations with the European Union,” he said.
