Georgia’s three international airports serviced 1,050,864,506 passengers in January-March, up by 33% YoY and by 3% from Q1 2019, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported.
Between them, the three facilities serviced the following numbers of passengers: Tbilisi International Airport – 713,660 passengers, up by 41%, Kutaisi International Airport – 253,073 passengers, up by 108%, and Batumi International Airport – 77,077 passengers, up by 13%.
The country’s rural airports also saw an increase in passenger numbers in the first quarter, with central Georgia’s Natakhtari Airport servicing 4,306 passengers, up 231-fold.
The Queen Tamar Airport in the highland Mestia in northwestern Svaneti region serviced 2,494 passengers in the first three months of the year, up by 77%.
In the western Racha region, the Ambrolauri Airport saw 254 individuals pass through it, down by 9%.
In the first quarter of 2023, Georgian airports serviced 4,839 flights, including 3,802 regular services. The number of flights marked a 22% increase YoY, the agency said. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
