More than 771,000 people in 2022 benefited from medicines and medical devices compensated from the mandatory health insurances accounts (AOAM).
According to the National Health Insurances House (CNAM), over 770,000 out of all beneficiaries received compensated medicines, up by 30,000 YoY. More than a half of them, 465,000, benefited from compensated preparations for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, while 118,000 – from medicines against diabetes.
In 2022, insulin analogs for the first time ever were introduced in the list of compensated medicines: seven common international denominations. More than 7,000 people received these medicines for free.
At the same time, in July 2022, more medical devices prescribed in outpatient conditions were compensated. Thus, besides the compensated medicines, over 22,000 people benefited also from tests, lancets for monitoring the glucose, stoma and urine bags.
Last year, the most expensive compensated medicine was used by patients sick with cystic fibrosis and the annual sum paid by CNAM per one beneficiary was of over 167,000 lei.
Also in 2022, citizens benefited from eight new international common denominations for the treatment of more diseases, such as diabetes, bronchial asthma and hypertension. At present, the list of compensated preparations comprises 169 international common denominations.
