The total outstanding debts of Polish consumers grew by PLN 4.9 billion (EUR 1.04 billion) over the twelve months till October and reached PLN 77.4 billion (EUR 16.50 billion), a debt registry reported.
According to BIG InfoMonitor and the BIK debtor database, about 2.7 million Poles had problems with paying their debts as of October.
Between December 2021 and October 2022, the number of debtors who had payment problems increased by 19,000, the report said.
“The fact that the average Polish debtor’s outstanding liabilities reached PLN 29,000 (EUR 6,182) is not optimistic, either,” said Waldemar Rogowski, a BIG InfoMonitor analyst.
“Our data clearly show that Poles are falling into debt,” added the company’s CEO, Slawomir Grzelczak.
The researcher Quality Watch ran the survey for BIG InfoMonitor on a sample of 1,064 adult Poles from October 28 to 31. (The First News/Business World Magazine)
