Georgian economy minister Levan Davitashvili on November 21 said there was a “definite progress” in the country’s implementation of conditions for receiving the European Union membership candidate status, and stressed the priorities would be fulfilled at a “high level”.
In his remarks over the matter, Davitashvili noted both parliamentary committees and the “entire political spectrum” were “quite actively” involved in the implementation process.
“There is a definite progress in implementing the 12-point recommendations. I was introduced to the action plan of the parliament. In order to fulfill the main issues and priorities, legislative changes are needed. Accordingly, both parliamentary committees and the entire political spectrum are quite actively involved. Of course, the opposition is also involved to a varying degree”, the government official said.
Davitashvili expressed his confidence the conditions would be fulfilled and agreed with the international community and the country’s partners.
“In order to agree the specific issues, conclusions of specific competent organisations are needed, which will be important for the European Union, be it the Venice Commission or other international partners”, he noted.
“Together with them, these priorities are being discussed, reconciled and finally reflected in the legislation of Georgia. Georgia will fulfill these conditions within the stipulated time, so that the progress on the path of EU integration continues in 2023”, the minister concluded. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
