Georgian parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on November 8 met with representatives of Tokyo Electric Power Company and Itochu Corporation to promote Georgia’s investment and transit potential.
At the meeting with Masaki Honda, the managing director of TEPCO, Papuashvili welcomed the purchase of a 31.4% stake in the Georgian company Dariali Energy by TEPCO Renewable Power, a member of the TEPCO group, which he said “represents Japan’s first largest investment in Georgia”.
At the meeting, the Japanese side emphasised Georgia was a “desirable location” for international investors because of its renewable energy resources, regulatory framework and geographic location.
Later during the meeting with Hiroyuki Tsubai, senior managing executive officer and member of the board of directors of ITOCHU, Papuashvili discussed the company’s present and upcoming projects in Georgia in the areas of renewable energy, urban infrastructure revitalisation and other areas.
The meetings were arranged as part of the current working visit of Papuashvili and his delegation to Japan. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
